God Bless???? I Don't Think He Means It.

I found a lost acquaintance on Facebook yesterday and wanted to "friend" him but then I saw this post on his timeline and realized that maybe I just don't really want to reconnect with him.

"OK, now that I have narrowed my FB list down to 22 contacts, I have the following statements to make:
- Obama is the worst President in the history of our country. If you don't agree, then just wait for the fallout from his policies. I also have pledged not to care about politics anymore and to blend in with all of the other senseless, beligerant, uneducated people whose vote counts as much as mine. Ignorance is bliss!

- The other day someone said Happy Holidays to me and I replied back, "Merry Christmas." He said he did not celebrate Christmas. I then told him, "Oh no? Then you're going to hell." I walked out.

- I have learned that my precious few friends and loving family are all I wish to have in my life and that makes me happy.

- I am truly blessed to have such great kids, a supportive and pretty wife, unbelievable parents, a job, a roof over my head, and most of all God in my life. God brings me a peace I never had before, and an understanding that the things of this world are meaningless and short term. I am not what you would call a bible thumper, still like to crack suds at a party, and occassionaly drop the "f" bomb - but have a deeply intense personal relationship with God that I wish everyone had.

God Bless, Merry CHRISTmas, and Happy New Year!"

The Abrupt End of a Football Season

Merry Christmas- A Plea for the Homeless

Operation Christmas Stay!

We would like for our guests to stay inside (and for year-round MRC/ERS staff to get some much needed rest on Christmas Day while they do). Hence, we are asking for volunteers to offer the gift of time. If we get a few more volunteers to volunteer an hour or two, we can keep our guests from spending Christmas morning and afternoon wandering the streets. An awesome family has already volunteered to make a hot and homemade Christmas breakfast in the morning and some more volunteers have claimed their hours.

All we need are a few more hours filled to complete the bridge to the following day:-- 12:00pm to 4:00pm. If you are available, please contact me by phone or email and let me know what hours you can take. The site is at Wesley United Methodist Church: 41 Justice Way, Elkton, MD.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Howling At The Moon

Howling At The Moon
Carpenter's Point, MD
January 2015

Tonight is a perfect night to howl with the moon. So I did.  My neighbors told me to stop howling. I hate them.

Blessings For All

As I walked away from  my car and started down the street, a man stopped me to tell me that I dropped something right outside my car.

It was my wallet. I was so relieved and grateful. I thanked him profusely. Then he thanked me for giving him this blessed moment to help me. I told him that he had it all backwards: I was blessed.

Dead Fox

As I was driving along the highway today, I saw a man stop his car, pick up a dead fox, stiff with rigor mortis and dump that thing right in the cooler in the back of his pickup truck. Then he just drove off. I wonder what he is going to do with that fox?

Digging Up The Yard

This is a sure way to ruin an afternoon and spend a $1000 on two inches of pipe.

It's Time For New Shoes

I walked 13 miles through New York City one day and literally and figuratively wore out my damn shoes.  I only had one pair with me so I had to go to a damn shoe store and pay $100 + tax for a new pair of shoes that I didn't want.  It almost ruined my day. If this wasn't such a funny story, I might have been mad.

A Sunday Drive

On Sundays, the Amish go to church at a neighbor's house. After church, they ride through town and head home.

Orgasm

Orgasms

I am with a bunch of old fart women and we are sitting around and talking old fart things: the pains, stiff joints, the arthritis, frequent urination, yada, yada, yada.

Sue fans herself  with a magazine and starts in the hot flash complaint, “Until you have a hot flash, you never really fully understand it.  I remember the first time I had a hot flash.  It came over me so suddenly and it was like “Wow, what’s happening to me”.  I thought I was burning in hell”.

“Yea, it’s like childbirth. You don’t know it until you experience it. You just can’t explain it”, Liz shouts out.

“Same as an orgasm”, Beth chimes in from behind and we all stop what we are doing and just laugh and laugh and laugh.

Damn, It's Time To Go Back To the Grocery and Buy Tomotoes

The end of summer means the end of fresh, ripe tomatoes picked right off the vines.
DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold Brew Coffee

I recently went to a coffee shop and the barrister wanted $4 for a glass of cold brew coffee.

"What makes cold brew coffee different from a regular cup of coffee, I ask as I begrudgingly had him way too much money for a drink that isn't beer.

"It has a unique taste all of its own because of the process.  Cold brew reduces the acidity", he tells me with a tone that wanted me to believe that a great scientific discovery was frothing from my glass.

"So, how do you make it", I ask in my smart ass voice.

"It's a long process. It takes 8 hours just to brew.  I get cheesecloth and course grain coffee and I fill up a five gallon container and careful cut a four inch square of the cheesecloth which I fill with the coffee and tie the ends with string.  I filter the water twice to get all of the impurities out. Then I carefully drop the cheesecloth into the water and refrigerate it at 36F and let it set overnight.  It's a long process", he assures me once again.

I take my coffee and leave.  When I go home, I find a few coffee packets from a recent hotel stay.  I open one up, drop it in a cold glass of water, put it in my refrigerator and go back to it the next morning.  My cold brew coffee awaited me.

A Happy Buddha

I would be pretty damn happy if all I did was sit around a garden of irises.

This fox will not be returning to the wild as he can not fend for himself since  he has no camouflage.

Need A Lift?

Prior to Hurricane Sandy (2012), it cost $25,000 to raise a house from ground level to 13 feet.  Since the flood, insurance companies have mandated that houses be raised to this level if homeowners want to get flood insurance.  Now, some contractors are charging $75,000 for this same service. There seems to be something wrong with making a big buck off of someone's disaster.

American Visual Arts Museum

This is one great museum.  They capture the artistic genius of the invisible artists.  Many of them are mentally ill, criminals, loners, poor or unknown. I've been to this museum about five times and I like it more and more, each time.
